Growing Byrd Agency moves to new office on Davidson Drive

Third generation insurance agency the Byrd Agency moved to a new location earlier this month.

A ribbon-cutting was held at the new location at 797 Davidson Drive in Concord. Concord Mayor Bill Dusch and members of the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce joined the business for the celebration.

Arnold Byrd started in the insurance business in the 1950s and opened his own office in 1963 in a small building beside Hardee’s on Church Street.

“When my brother and I took over my Granddad’s agency in 2009, we knew we wanted to grow but had no idea that 10 years later, we would need more space,” said Jessica Tucker, now president of the company. Her brother, Jeremy Blackwell, is the company’s operations manager.

Their father, Jim Blackwell, began his insurance with Byrd in the 1970s and later opened his own agency.

“We are excited to be a third-generation small business that is still thriving. Our tagline is ‘Local Agency. Loyal Advisors’ and that’s exactly what we want to be for this community,” Tucker said.

Shane Natale and Michael Gainey are associate agents and Kelly Hurst is the administrative assistant for the Byrd Agency.
